Dance Against the Ban - Award Case

Role: Concept and Copy
Recognition: Silver Clio – Music (2021)

When the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate banned Mahraganat music, the move wasn’t just about genre. It was an attempt to erase a sound and a culture that came from the streets.

This project turned that ban into a protest. We created a kinetic type system inspired by Mahraganat dance moves — a visual language that let the music move even when it couldn’t be played.

The campaign launched on social, inviting people to dance, move, and take back the space that had been denied to them. I co-developed the concept and led the writing across the project, working with Abdulrahman Galal to shape a creative statement rooted in resistance, pride, and rhythm.
